The NDIS can be genuinely confusing. Banksia Care has practical experience navigating the system and can assist participants and families with understanding their plan, coordinating providers and working through complex situations.
Banksia Care does not provide legal or financial advice. Where specialist assistance is required, we will refer to appropriate professionals including legal practitioners, disability advocates and specialist services.
Understanding your plan
Budgets, funding categories, line items and what your plan actually allows. Banksia Care can help you understand what has been funded and how it can be used.
Reasonable and necessary supports
Every NDIS support must meet the 'reasonable and necessary' test under the NDIS Act. This means the support must be related to your disability, represent value for money, be likely to be effective, and not be better funded through another system such as health or education. Banksia Care can help you understand how this test applies to your plan and what it means in practice.
Working with plan managers
Banksia Care works with plan-managed participants and can assist with understanding invoicing, provider coordination and how the plan management arrangement works.
Self-managed participants
Banksia Care supports self-managed participants and can provide guidance on record-keeping, provider selection and managing your own funding responsibly.
Provider coordination
Connecting participants with suitable providers, understanding service agreements and coordinating multiple services within a plan.
NDIS reviews and reassessments
Banksia Care has practical experience navigating NDIS reviews and reassessments. We can provide guidance and appropriate referral pathways for participants navigating these processes.
Appeals and ART processes
Where a participant is navigating an Administrative Review Tribunal process, Banksia Care can provide practical guidance and refer to legal, advocacy and specialist services where appropriate.
Early childhood services
Navigating early childhood supports.
For families of children under 9 with a developmental delay or disability, the pathway into the NDIS looks different. This section explains the Early Childhood Approach (EACH), the role of early childhood partners like KU Children's Services, and how Banksia Care fits into that picture.
Start with EACH
The NDIS Early Childhood Approach (EACH) is the first step for most families. EACH is delivered by approved early childhood partners, not the NDIA directly. An EACH partner will meet with your family, assess your child's needs and connect you with early intervention supports. A formal NDIS plan is not always required at this stage.
Connect with an EACH partner
EACH partners in the Gregory Hills, Camden, Campbelltown and greater Sydney area include KU Children's Services and other NDIS-approved organisations. You can self-refer to an EACH partner, you do not need a GP referral or diagnosis to make contact, though a diagnosis or developmental assessment will support the process.
Early intervention supports
Once connected with an EACH partner, your child may access early intervention supports, including speech pathology, occupational therapy, behaviour support and developmental programs. These can be funded through EACH without a full NDIS plan, or through an NDIS plan if one is in place.
Transition to a full NDIS plan
If your child's needs are ongoing and significant, the EACH partner will support the transition to a full NDIS plan. This typically happens before age 9. The EACH partner prepares supporting evidence and works with the NDIA to develop the plan. Banksia Care can provide supporting reports and continuity of service through this transition.
School-age transition
Starting school is a major transition for children with disability. NDIS plans often change at school entry, therapy goals shift, school-based supports come into play and coordination between providers becomes more complex. Banksia Care can assist families to navigate this transition and ensure supports remain appropriate.
About KU Children's Services
KU Children's Services is one of Australia's largest not-for-profit early childhood organisations and an approved NDIS Early Childhood partner. KU operates inclusion support programs and early intervention services across NSW, including in the Gregory Hills, Camden and Campbelltown area. Families can contact KU directly to access EACH supports. Banksia Care works alongside KU and other EACH partners, we are not affiliated with KU but we welcome referrals from KU and can refer families to KU where appropriate.

We will assist practically and refer to legal, advocacy and specialist services when necessary. We will not accept a participant simply because funding is available if we are not the appropriate provider.
