Respite & Short-Term Support
A break for them. A break for you. Respite at Banksia Care provides participants with meaningful experiences while giving families and carers the time they need to rest, reset and recharge.
What is respite
Sustainable support starts with sustainable carers.
Needing a break does not make you a bad parent or carer. Respite is not giving up. It is part of responsible, sustainable support for the whole family.
Banksia Care provides respite and short-term support that is genuinely meaningful for the participant. Not just supervised time. Actual experiences, activities and connection that reflect who they are and what they enjoy.
Respite can be arranged at home, in the community, or at the Banksia Care Hub when it opens.
For participants
Respite is an opportunity for participants to spend time with different individuals, try new activities, build independence and enjoy experiences outside their usual routine. It is not a lesser form of support.
For families and carers
Time to rest. Time to work. Time to attend appointments, spend time with other children or simply take a breath. Banksia Care understands the weight that families and carers carry, and respite is one practical way to support the whole system.
At home
In-home respite support within the participant's familiar environment.
In the community
Community-based outings, activities and social experiences.
At the Hub
Hub-based respite programs when the facility opens.
Carers can use this time to
- Rest and recover
- Attend their own appointments
- Spend time with other children or family members

- Simply take time for themselves
