Meals, Nutrition & Cooking
Food is more than a meal. It is a life skill, a daily routine, a source of confidence and, when it goes well: a genuine pleasure.
How we work
Kitchen confidence as a life skill.
Cooking and nutrition support at Banksia Care is about building genuine capability, not just preparing food. Whether that means learning to plan a weekly menu, navigating a supermarket, following a recipe or simply building confidence in the kitchen, the support is practical and participant-led.
The Banksia Care Hub has a fully functioning kitchen, which will be available for cooking programs, group activities and life skills development when the Hub opens.
Support may include
- Grocery shopping and meal planning
- Meal preparation and cooking
- Baking and kitchen skills
- Nutrition-focused routines and healthy eating habits
- Kitchen confidence and independence
- Daily living skills through food preparation
Allergies, aversions and dietary needs.
Banksia Care takes allergies, food aversions and dietary requirements seriously. These are documented in the participant profile and considered in all meal-related support. Nutritious meals and snacks may be offered at the Hub, with individual dietary needs taken into account. Clinical dietetic advice is only provided by an appropriately qualified professional.
